Courage….as a definition is opposite to fear…or(according to Wikipedia):
“Courage is the ability and willingness to confront fear, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation. Physical courage is courage in the face of physical pain, hardship, death, or threat of death, while moral courage is the ability to act rightly in the face of popular opposition, shame, scandal, or discouragement.”
It was actually considered and defined as a virtue by the ancient Greek and Romans and by most great thinkers of the world.
But we…humans….yes we are a special category…we ignore it, usually, when we face it. Because it is not in our nature to help stranded cats or to jump head first in an angry river to save a dog. I am not even putting down on paper what we are not able to do for our fellow humans….because we lack the courage…or better said….because we ignore this feature of our personality…or should i call it out as an internal motivator?!
Remember when we were talking about acting like gods?! Well would you say gods are selfless or selfish in their acts of courage?! and I am referring to the basics like helping a cat down from a tree or jumping into the fire to try and find the elderly neighbor that has left his maid go home for Christmas?! Are we, as acting gods internally motivated to be courageous or….we just want to prove we are better than other, therefore we are called gods?!
I spoke only of deeds…but what about human interaction? How about recognizing your mistakes? How about cutting your losses short and moving on? How about change? How about new…experiences, teachings, approaches, thoughts?…Would you say these need or involve courage? Would you say one would need an internal motivation to put oneself through any of these actions…or reactions…or facts of life?!
Courage, just like fear, is a part for who and what we are. Courage drives us towards action and sometimes even reaction. Courage, as fear, as the god complex and other elements, fuels us, gives us the power that we need to go all the way, or to end, or to start, or to take a new road or try a new approach to an old situation.
The downside is that we never know what courage is until we have no other choice but to be courageous and brave and just face whatever lies ahead.
Because this is what is all about with the internal motivators….the discovery of what lies ahead and the process of getting motivated to actually go through with it.
Some people hide behind fear and ignore their power and face “the event” unwillingly, others believe they have a lot of power to face “the event” and others discover how much power they have by being courageous while facing it. it?!
Let`s just call it ‘the beauty of life‘…
