me running (1 of 1)

the purpose of the photo is just to showcase the activity, and not the correct running gear :)

Don’t expect to be reading the blog of a very experienced runner, who does hundreds of kilometres monthly, although I would love to be one in the near future. And, before you tell me:  I would have to wake up too early, it’s so cold outside, it’s dark, I will get a cold, I will be tired for the whole day, etc., let me stop you there! The same thoughts crossed my mind too, so give me a couple of minutes and reach the end of the page;)

I have always loved sports, particularly team sports, and somehow I had the idea that running it’s not exciting, nor engaging, and I was wrong. As team sports require more time and organisation, which sometimes we all lack, I started going more to the gym and running on a treadmill. Soon enough I have changed my opinion about jogging and started to appreciate the good feeling it gave, built my endurance, sculpted my body and my legs were definitely more fit (girls, I’m sure you like that part 🙂 ). I just listed a few “material” benefits of running, but there are so many more “non material”: your willpower gets stronger with each training, your confidence grows along side with your endurance, the satisfaction of reaching your goals keeps you motivated and focused even after you leave the gym.

There was something more I felt I had to do for a full running experience, which was out of my comfort zone: jogging outside.  I am not saying it’s easy, I too had to fight all those excuses mentioned in the beginning, for quite some time,  before I actually put on my gear and went outside.  And once I did, I felt like I could do anything 🙂 All those excuses just vanish and I felt so good, I wouldn’t stop jogging unless my feet would tell me to do so :P.

When jogging in the morning, I see a face of my city that I never knew before, every street seems more beautiful in the light of the sun going up in the sky. The music of the city waking up boosts my energy, gives me strength to go on and start a great day. The air I breath is fresh, cold and goes through every little part of my body, and I have to tell you it just feels amazing, in those moments I feel like I run the world!

The reason I am sharing this is because I would like you to experience these wonderful feelings as well. To get out of the comfort zone is hard for all of us, but we will never know how it feels like,  if we don’t try! You will soon realize that what you sometimes see just as an workout activity, has a great positive impact in a lot of other personal areas. And, if you are trying to lose weight, I’ll tell you a secret, after I a good jog, the last thing on my mind is to stuff myself with something unhealthy :).  No matter your reasons and goals, physical exercise might be the right way to get you where you want!

Keep up your Uptitude,

Roxana
