veggies for juiceJuicing vegetables and fruits has become quite well known around us nowadays. People go for it for different reasons, such as: getting additional essential nutrients from food, weight control and weight loss, having more energy, detox and cleanse, etc. Below you can read more about my reasons and what I have learned from following a 5 days juice detox diet.

My first successful attempt of a #5DayJuiceDetox… And I say successful because I had a first attempt some months ago, and I could only hold on to it for only 2 days and a half. And not because I was starving or feeling bad, nothing like that, but because of prejudices and for letting other people influencing my actions.

I consider myself a very active person, hence, the first worry that came to my mind was wether or not, my body will receive enough nutrients to put up with all the activities. Therefore, what I can assure you all after one failed attempt and a successful one, is that my body has never been happier or had so much energy! 🙂

The reason why I decided to go for a detox was that I wanted take better care of my body, cleanse all the toxins that were accumullated in the body, from direct of indirect sources, and have a new start with my dietary habits.

There are, of course, side effects of the detox that some of us might consider bad signs, but that’s just your body getting rid of all the toxins, so it’s actually a good sign 🙂 I too, had some pretty strong reactions on the first attempt. At the end of the first day, my nose was running, my muscles were in pain and I also had a bit of fever. And these lasted until the next day, after which I was fine. Now, at the second trial, the effects were more gentle. I only had a headache for about a day. Also, in the third day my lungs started to hurt, which was something new, and I was happy to realize that they were also going through a cleansing and rebuilding process.

In the 5th day I felt like new. And during these 5 days I kept up with my physical activity, running at least 30km per week, and also having a hectic period at work. I strongly believe that giving my body pure health through the juices I was drinking, helped me go through the week successfully and not feel the need for a sip of coffee! 🙂

My learnings after this experience:

  • The juices are delicious and fulfilling;
  • For me starting on Saturday worked like magic as I was away from the office, so away from temptation and from, possibly, discouraging messages. On Monday when I went to the office, it was already day 3 and I was sure about what I was doing;
  • Buy all the ingredients at once if possible 🙂 I had to pay a few visits to the supermarket, and that was a bit time consuming;
  • You can drink your green juice anywhere, people don’t care, it’s just you who thinks they do. So go ahead, pack your green juice and take it everywhere 🙂
  • I will include juices in my diet and have one for breakfast / dinner on a regular basis;
  • Look for a program that was developed by a certified juicer, not for everything you find on the internet. I followed the recipes of Natural Juice Junkie.

Do you want to have a fresh start with your dietary habits and offer a lot of good staff to your body? Don’t give up in thinking that you cannot do it, and don’t let others tell you that you can’t. It takes a bit of motivation to get started and then the results will be felt every day… and you will Love it! 🙂
